Rather than children being placed in classes based on their age, they are placed in a cohort that matches their mastery level. For math, students are assessed and then placed in the level of learning that best suits their ability. In Humanities, students will be placed based on their reading and writing level of ability. This structure allows us to individualize within the context of a school setting.
We will rotate, as an entire school, through eras of time.
This affords the opportunity for our school to learn together rather than a grade variation of the content being discussed.
Our modern world has promoted specialization but at Hastings Christian we want students to be given a robust foundation of learning. We therefore intentionally integrate our learning across the entire school through eras of time, and throughout humanities where Literature, Bible, History, Worldview, theology and writing are intertwined for more wholistic learning.
